On Saturday morning 12 boys traveled to Lurgan to the St. Peter's tournament on Saturday afternoon 12 men came home with the Jim Moore Cup.
With over 20 teams competing for the top prize I can honestly say that we were without doubt The Best Team in Lurgan that day.
In the group stages we comfortably beat St Michael's (Co Down) Ballyhegan and Clann Éireann.
The games were 9 aside with 3 points for over the bar and just 1 point for under the bar. With goals not really important we played with Leo Callaghan as a sweeping goalkeeper. Our backs were Daire Harvey and Daniel Donnelly with Sean McCooey rock solid at Centre Half. At Midfield we had the hard working Aaron McGleenan and The Player Of The Tournament and captain Tómas Galvin. In every game Tómas lead by example and was The Linchpin in our Team. Our forwards were Sean Woods, Eoghan Tierney, Conor Cunningham, James Mallon, Sean McConnell and the In Form Jamie Donnelly. All 12 boys played their part and all got plenty of game time.
In the semi final we met St Mary's Aughagallon and beat them comfortably to set up a meeting with Wolfe Tones in the final.
In the final Keady lead right from the start but were pushed all the way by The Tones. Early in the 2nd half The Tones staged a comeback only for The Dwyers to step it up and finish the job!! Well done boys. These boys deserve great credit as they have suffered one and two point defeats in other tournaments so this was overdue. They have improved as a team steadily from the start of the year and this therefore is a fitting reward. Dwyers Ábu.
