Our seniors stretched their unbeaten run to 3 games with a performance to be proud of in Gerald McGleenan Park this afternoon.
Looking good from the start, the game got underway and Keady had some good early possession and were unlucky to concede the first score of the game. It wasn't long before Keady got their first though, quickly followed by 2 more. Keady were looking good for their lead Grange were struggling to maintain possession at times throughout the first half. Keady were in control and it was showing on the scoreboard. Keady racked up a half-time lead of 1-07 to 0-04 and worth every bit of it.
It was expected that Grange would improve in the second half, playing down the hill with the wind at their backs, but it was Keady who came out stronger scoring the first 3 points of the half to lead by 9 before Grange managed a score. Keady never allowed Grange to settle into the game or to build any momentum, Keady scored 3 more unanswered points to lead by 1-13 to 0-05. The lead was 11 points and the game looked secure. And so it proved, although Grange managed to score 5 more points to Keady's 1, the result was never in doubt. Grange were awarded a penalty late on which was expertly saved by our keeper. The game finished 1-14 to 0-10.
It was a clinical and commanding performance from our boys, who after a tough start to the season have settled into the division well, winning 2 and drawing 1 of the last 3 games. If this level of performance is maintained we should have enough to secure our status in the intermediate division.
Credit must go to the management and players for turning the season around and things are certainly looking much better than they were just a few short weeks ago.
Well done to all, keep it going into the Championship game next Saturday night and we have a fair chance.
