A close exciting game in McGleenan Park finished a draw between Keady and St Peters. In a low scoring affair that could've went either way, the result was probably a fair one.
The game got off to a slow start with over 10 minutes played before the the first score was registered, it went to St Peters. Points were exchanged between the sides before St Peters scored 3 in succession, Keady almost cancelled this out with a goal before half-time, unfortunately the effort came back off the cross bar. HT score 0-02 to 0-05.
St Peters scored the first point of the second half before Keady pulled one back. Leading 6 to 3, St Peters added the next two points and looked like they were going to go on to win the game. Keady, however, weren't done. Midway through the second half and 5 points down a long ball into the box was collected by our full forward and buried into the back of the net. Keady were back in it.
The goal, unsurprisingly gave Keady a lift and they took control of the game at this point. Keady scored the next 2 points and the game was level. A couple of minutes into injury time Keady got a free within scoring distance, this was expertly put over the bar and for the first time in the game, deep into injury time, Keady were ahead.
Everyone in the ground expected this to be the final action of the night but the kick out was taken and play continued. St Peters won the ball, broke up the field and the ball was fisted over the bar for the equaliser.
This still wasn't the end though, Keady seen one final attempt to win the game come off the post. The game was finally blew up after 5 mins of added time and the game finished a draw.
Well done lads, great character was shown in this game to come back from 5 points down in such a low scoring game. Another point on the board.
